Comments: *Snoozing in my chair in the library the evening being just to exicted to find my way to my room. I dream of a time before, a time of dragons, when suddenly I am ripped from my sleep to the sound of my teacher shouts.
I rub my eyes -- quickly looking about the room, and then I listen. Merlin?
My heart stops as I sit straighter in my chair. Wiping the sleep from my eyes. I think I need a list of people Rhea has not know.. that way I will be slightly prepared when those she does, when they stop by. Imagine Merlin as a child. What a sight. I stay motionless just watching the great man, my eyes flicking from him to Rhea.*

*snickering, I reach over and pat the startled girl, whispering* Welcome back, hon. *grin*

Comments: He looks at Lyssa and grins a crooked grin and taps her on the knee.
"Now, no telling, Ducky! I do not want every wide-eyed novice pounding on my door asking for tricks and spells and stories. Or trying to impress me with rabbit-out-of-the-hat sleight of hand. Now.."
        He looks again at Destin.
"Some say the mother of this baby was a holy virgin and his father was a demon. Some say his father was a bard with the gift of prophecy. In either case, the father was a mysterious shadowy figure who--disappeared one day. This child of rather mixed heritage, nevertheless, was surrounded by kind and wise people, some ordinary, some not. He had latent powers that gradually manifest themselves. As a young man, he wondered about himself. What was he? Good or bad? Mortal or immortal? Where was his father? Gradually, as he came to a sense of himself, that is just what he discovered. He was himself, and glad of it. He knew that someday, for him, it would mean some heartache. He knew also it would bring joy."
Here he leans over and touches Rhea's hand, then Lyssa's.
"He realized that whether how poor or rich, how happy or sad, it was his life and he wanted no other. As to adventures, well, there were many. Like the time he found a beautiful bird, more majestic than any. He contrived to steal a feather, silly lad. But she caught him! And could have fried him up good!"
He laughs and slaps his knee.
"Instead, he promised to tell her a story or a poem a day in retribution. Oh, she loved a good story--love stories, fantasy, magic! And she fell into the way of telling him stories, too. They became friends, and she gave him the feather which he returned to her in due time. You remember the letter, Lyssa?"
He pauses and sips his tea, his eyes roving from Destin to Lyssa to Rhea.

*LIstening, he blinks at first and then the corners of his mouth twitch as his eyes meet the great man. Thinking to himself, he realizes that the tale touches him - no, is him - no, is like him. His arm tenses a bit as he takes in the words...mixed heritage....father gone....glad to be himself...and he blinks again, the meaning clear.*

*She smiles and cannot fail to notice how he once again tells a tale that is only half fiction. Seeing into hearts, given the power of "sight," he draws her in too....and she laughs at his mirth and his memory of so long ago. A tear comes and hurriedly she wipes it away. Silly stories, but lovingly they are tucked in her heart as he begins one more poignant yet.*

A apray of wine shoots from my lips and I begin to choke, go pale, my eyes widening at my...master...
"You...ye....ye mean...all this time...HIM...an'...an' I...OH LIGHT!" My eyes lock on my master--no, MERLIN! Shock registers on my face with the realization of the disrespectful attitude I have displayed towards the greatest of legends, the greatest of bards AND sorcerers--for YEARS, no less!--it's nae wonder he didn't turn me into something unnatural!
"AN' YE KNEW?! An' ye let me...oh...oh bloody hells...." I look to Rhea as I go speechless, truly, honestly...
        Speechless!

*I laugh and bend over to pat her on the back with a wicked twinkle in my eye* Oh dear, I did tell you I had something to tell you one day, but Em...er...Merlin did make me promise not to. I believe it would have inhibited your lessons, darling. *leaning back again with a large smile* Sorry, Em, do continue now, won't you? Now that for ONCE Lyssa is quite still?

I stand holding my staff and listen closely, my wonder having died down slightly and my mind working. Something ... What sort of man is he... then he speaks of the legends as though they were real and a gasp escapes my lips.*

--Merlin.. the real honest to God adviser to King Arthur.. I spoke to him and he's right here... but... why is it I only feel less then I was before he showed up. I definatly need a night out.--

*I smile softly as Lytol returns and motion for him to join me by the fire, amidst Sigi and Louis, Rosie and Michael. He looks a bit shell shocked and I study him as I listen. Campfire stories. So...it isn't just the gypsies who tell them.*

Comments: "Ah, Rhea, yes, perhaps they shall return, those days of reveling in golden dreams!"
He turns to Lyssa and takes her hand.
"Sought your death, but did not find it, eh? Then if Rhea and this place are the cause of that, I am put in Rhea's debt again!"
        He laughs, relaxed and calm.
"I don't know if I can come up with that many stories again as I did when I was a lad!"
He glances around the room, taking in all present.
"Gather 'round all, please. Do not hang back. I am not much! Come, come!"
He gestures them all to sit around him.
"I have just been alive a long time, and I have seen much, learned much. And what good is it if I cannot share it?"
His warm eyes seek out Destin's blue ones.
"Once upon a time, a baby was born..."

Ah...*laughing*...this brings back memories, Em! *leaning back against Trufort and pulling Lily to sit beside me*

Comments: *It's so good to see Rowan and Destin returned to their normal paths. That voodoo vamp always messes someone up. . . I hear the strings vibrate on Louis' violin, but he's merely holding it, not playing it. He looks amused at spirit playfullness and Sigi quirks her head to the side while still listening to Rhea and. . .MERLIN!! Wow! My thoughts about people who don't believe in vampires or fae or Merlin are missing a lot get interrupted.* He is Merlin the magician! He can help you learn your magic!

Shhhhh, or I'll ask him how to get rid of a pesky ghost! *I whisper to Thor then smile, then giggle behind my hand; it's funny, a ghost haunting ghosts, Rowan and me. I blush, trying to remember I should be serious.* Go outside and play, Thorn.

*squeezing Ro's hand excitedly again, I turn to look at Rosie who speaks to Thorn* Where is Little Zephyr, Thorn? You should go play. *chuckling*

Comments: His eyes search Lyssa's face.
"I am glad you are happy. Indeed, that is one of the things I came here to discover."
A change flickers across his face and he gives Rhea a wink.
"What lands have I traveled? My world has been rather narrow, unlike yours. Britain was my home for so long, you know. Once you rewarded me with the lovely Phoenix feather and departed, I seemed to come into this gift of power. It probably has been difficult to escape my story; it is everywhere now."
He looks to the ceiling in some exasperation.
"What they have made of it! And yet...it was a beautiful time. We had such hopes..."
He slides a glance toward Lyssa.
"...Arthur and I. He never did return from Avalon, you know. I have been there and have not seen him. Camelot vanished when the Celtic kings were overthrown by the Saxons. They replaced our magic with their own. Then, of course, the story goes that I was imprisoned in a cave or a rock...some such thing."
        He shakes his head.
"What kind of Merlin would I be if I allowed that to happen? True, I fell in love, but I chose to step away from the world, rest. Love caused me to 'die,' in a way..."
His eyes look into the corners of the room for a red mist..
"and enabled me to live again. I came back to the world, reborn. I found Elsinore, a second chance with these young Bards to make the world beautiful again."

*nodding* Love did as much to me...love has been a rebirth for me. *pausing I follow his gaze and note he misses nothing* And how I wish I had seen that land...that time! I too heard you had been buried in those Hollow Hills...some Crystal Cave. And I wondered if you were lost to me. Perhaps those days will return one day, Em. I will hope. *Ah so....he tells!*

*Idly listening, Dra starts as he mentions his tale of love...stepping away from the world...dying...reborn. Her eyes narrow and she turns them on the Man who seems to speak just to her alone.*

Comments: "Master," I say softly to him, "I am happy here, I really am. It was so long since I had a family again, of any sort. Now, tis like havin' two..and they have a need of me here, Master!" I smile. "I go around to the villages on my own time and ah, get into--er, fix--any trouble, just like at home. I have sort of, like Alaric planned, taken the office and services of High Bard to the road...and to Madame Rhea. Meeting her saved my life, I think," I say softly, and my thoughts answer.
*I was on the road, looking for my own death, I know that now. An' I did not care if it came from one here, or anyone else in circumstance. But now...now I couldn't live enough! There is such music here, on the wind, in the moonlight!...*
But then Rhea returns, and a favor my friend with a warm smile--and one for Dra in the corner, whose presence I feel like eyes on the back of my neck. Sitting back, I listen, curiously to their ttale, and find my attention sharpening. *Their words...it seems a joke, and yet...yet...there's a truth to them! How can this be? What is it between my master, and Rhea?!*

*smiling at Lyssa as she answers Em's questions, feeling a warmth and contentment for the first time in some while*

Comments: "I see one way you have changed, Rhea."
He nods to the streak of white hair and frowns in concern.
"But how else have you changed since the bold, daring, foolish lad tried to steal a Phoenix feather? You know, all those stories you 'made' me tell you paved the path to my future."
His face softens as he thinks back.
"I suppose you, the same as I, have had joyous times and sad. We've suffered some loss. You know, after all these years, I still miss the young king, my role as mentor...that grand, shining city."
        He sits up straight suddenly.
"Well! Christine, you bring me to myself. Trying to pack my lunch for travel, eh?"
He looks again at Rhea. "Enough maudlin sentimentality from me. What have you been up to this last millenia?"

*looking down and smiling with memory* Ah, my friend, those days of your "youth" were some of my best. But of course the other more obvious change is...*she waves with her hand*...here...and my the darkness which I have come to abide in. Love drove me to change and gave me a son. *her smile is wistful* And through time I have come to see life change and see the world dissolve under the weight of progress. Ah for those lost days, eh Em? When ideals and virtue held us in thrall as something to be treasured and aspired after. *she sighs and then laughs lightly* But I have lived among man's harshness and I would hear of the dreams you have walked and the lands you have seen! How long have you been in Elsinore, old friend? And...*quietly*....will we see you again one day? *setting a light hand over his*

Comments: Christine sighs as Franklin departs. She'd heard and smelled the approach of the butler, but had hoped not to be found, whatever his errand. She leans against the wolf for a moment, resting one arm and her chin upon Fenris' back. Inhaling the deep scent of wolf, she shuts her eyes and tries to calm herself.

"Well, social obligations call, I'm afraid." Christine gives Fen's ears a final scratch, then stands up. "But perhaps you'd like to go for a run later?" With a last look backwards, and outwardly composed, she walks into the house, and enters the library.

"Master Emrys, it is a shame you have to leave so soon after what must have been a long trip. Perhaps I can convince Cooke to part with some provisions for you, and see about getting them packed up. That is, if you'd like something," she adds anxiously.

*laughing softly* Old? My dear Emrys, you will always be a 9 year old boy to me...no matter what else I see. And for your first visit to my home, I certainly hope it won't be another two or three thousand years before I see you again! *moving to sit beside him* But the others....they must have questions and I would acquiese to them...for them. *looking around the room* I'm sure the others will be returning soon, what questions do you have for an old bird like me? *quietly* I have changed from that woman you once knew...I hope not all for the worse. *rueful look*

"Oh, dear. Even now I can hear someone making his tired way over the hills, coming to summon me back home. Madame Cooke, you asked for the story of how your lady and I met. Rowan, too"
        ...nodding at her...
"seeks answers. So does your Destin. Perhaps we should all sit in the library for a few last stories, perhaps a few lessons before I must be on my way. Maybe I can have an answer, of sorts, for your friend, Lyssa."

I will bring a fresh pot of tea out to you all. Go on now...Lyssa leave some scones for the others. I'll send Franklin to round up the strays...*nodding and clucking, feeling sorry when this one shall leave us*

Now, Mr. Emrys, I will not bother you right now, as you are eating and talking with Lyssa, but..I must tell you...I felt something. *stopping, confused, then finishing in a rush* I am enjoying your visit very much, and I think Destin is too. I..I just wanted to tell you that.

Mistress Rowan and Miss Rosie. How nice. Ah Mistress Rowan I will feed you only if you promise to either come cook again or bring me your secret recipes. *grinning and showing off her new teapot by setting it in the center of the table with a wipe of her apron on its shiny surface* Now if anyone needs anything...*setting out a tureen of stew and some bowls*...you just be telling me.

You cannot do anything that will endanger you or others. This friend of yours, I imagine, is not without...resources herself. And what love does not carry the danger of hurt with it? We just do not know when it will strike."

Comments: "Master, what can you do?!" I blurt out, my face questioning, hopeful, and concerned for my friend, "I mean, what happened...I have never seen...I know the power of a tale, the power to change the weaves--and the danger aye, but...," I bite my lip in frustration. I do not want to make things worse, that is for sure!
"I know nothing of gypsy magic. Most I know are charms for and against the fey--an' that, I have found, is of a necessity when dealin' wi' them. I admit, I thought of askng Aelfred...or...even cutting a deal with a bean sidhe of one of the...more neutral houses, let's say,to see if faerie magic can end this--or at least make them think twice before tryin' to cross her again!"
"Master, what was done wasnae her fault! Tis nae fair! And how they use her, an' bait her, for whatever purposes they wish!" I mention the recent dark wind that screamed through the bower on the scream of a babe.
"My blood was hot then, perhap, catching her anger--Master, tis so hard to be around those who feel so sharply, it nearly hurts at times!--but...but I confess," I take a breath, hesitant, remembering the old tales of my master, and of Lord Aelfred, "I thought of calling the Wild Hunt down, in her defense...if it ever got bad. Though...that, too, has its price. T'was something I havenae told her yet. I know, once called, it must have prey, but They will hunt for justice, if ye call them, truly...or revenge," I raise my hand before he can protest, finishing softly,
"And, I know the price of calling them on the innocent, when the scales are not balanced--that, ye know, I'd never do! But...but she needs some protection, something to break their hold on her, Master!" I speak boldly, knowing I dare dangerous things, but then, I am fiercely protective of those I love. And if need be, I would dare to call the Hunt to protect the Bower.
"Master, do ye think...would I be warranted to dare such, in this case, should they make another cut at her life?" I ask quietly. *A dangerous question, with a dangerous answer...for if I ever called the Hunt down, and the prey was unjustified, or somehow, (though I have only heard of a rare few instances of this) if the Huntsman was turned from His prey, it would be my blood they sought. And worse.*

Comments: Heading downstairs, I hear voices as I head to the kitchen. "Ah, Master, I thought I might find ye here," I grin as I enter. "Cooke, that smells marvelous!" I say, sitting near and nibbling a scone.
"Did ye sleep well, old one?" I flash him an impish grin, and pour myself some tea. "Either way, I am glad ye came, Master Emrys. Ye have made many happy here in the sthort time since ye came," I add, my smile turning warm and admiring. "Especially lady Rhea! Light, but it is good to see her so free...," I relax a bit.
Enjoying the warm aroma, thoughts spill about my mind, and I ponder Dra's question and her riddle. My brow furrows, a serious look crosses my face, "There are others, though...Master, to be blunt, I have a riddle and I am not too sure of its solvin' completely," I pause. "From a magic I know but little of, save that it is powerful...an'...an' I'd help my friend, if I could," In hushed tones, careful to never mention her name or give a clue to her identity--though with my master, it is hard to keep a true secret if he wishes to worm it out of me!--and explain Dra's curse. "I do not know if ye know the tale, but...I can tell ye, its current conclusion fair rends my heart! Master...is there anything that can be done?" I ask quietly, "The poor woman has lost one love already, an' on her wedding eve, no less," I pause, gazing into my cup a moment to hide how this grieves me.

Well Miss Lyssa, is good to see you. *pushing over the jam* And so, I'll be leaving you two to talk. *she picks up her own cup and heads to her chair, but her ears do cause her to turn.* Three. "You're quite welcome. Yes..." he continues matter-of-factly, "the dragon was as real as you are, or as I am. Grand things can be impressive, but.."
he cradles the teacup in his other hand, swirls the tea around and looks down into it...
"there really is nothing better than a warm, cozy kitchen, no matter the size, and tea, toast and jam."

*Cooke nods and clucks softly* Oh tis true, m'lord. Why d'ya think I spend all my days in this warm big room? Because it is home and mother to me as none other, save my own bed and my books. *she winks as slide over generous pieces of homemade bread fresh toasted and the jar of homemade jam* And things made by hand are from the heart, taste of love. *She nods again* I made a thick stew m'lord if you would care for it. You haven't to my way of thinking had much since your arrival. And last night's work must have been hungry work, I'm thinkin'. *his comment interests her* Do you know Mr. Michael then? *Peanut Butter's ear's twitch at the name and Cooke passes down some chopped veggies. Comments: I smile at my dark friend, and take her hand, "Fear not, Dra, I'll ask him. My master is better at riddles that I am--he taught me the art of their making and solving--but speak it to me again...," I pause and listen, then nod.
"As to knowin' you...When a bard gets into his or her power, the strongest of them have a way of...seein' the tale weave about a person, and readin' it. The threads of possibility, if ye will. Sometimes, I get a feelin'...anyway, and some, through word or even curse, can reach out and pull those threads, though, there is a price often for it, especially if one does not look for all the consequences," I sigh. "A bard's power to curse is a powerful thing, indeed, an' never invoked without reason, or so we are trained. It is...to balance the scales when no hand can but the fates. But,"
I pause, hope shining in my eyes, "If anyone can, I bet my master can help ye unravel it, or maybe even think of something to turn it back! Ye have seen, Dra! He IS the most powerful of us!" I shake my head in wonder.
"I swear to ye, I have seen him do amazing things, hold huge groups of people in thrall, but...but what was wrought this past night, I have never seen before in all my days!" I sigh, wistfully. "That is the power of a true Master Bard. Heh, I dinnae know if I could ever weave such wonders, though oh, t'would be wonderful!...."
I get up, "But leave it to me! I shall probe my master's wits, and see what he can come up with, lady!" I grin, then take her hand, "Tis the least I can do for a friend," I smile and send her the warmth and hope of my heart.

*shrugging and then grinning* Well, he does radiate with a terrible power. *nodding to herself* And after almost 1001 years I am used to ....things...as they are. But if you get the chance. Do not make issue of it. *laughing suddenly* And honey, thanks. *with a green wink she disappears again in mists that roll over the balcony's ledge and fade into the darkness, drifting down onto the lawns*

His thoughts twist and turn, as they often do, in a maze of ideas, dreams, past and future mingling with the present. He makes his way down a back stairway and emerges into the kitchen.

Comments: Christine explodes out of the blue roses, unsure if she is running from something, or to it. Running at full speed, she does not pause to listen to the night wind or sift the scents floating upon the air. Her four paws thud dully upon the damp earth. Reaching the gazebo, she launches herself across the Laughing Brook in a single leap. Not pausing, she continues through a section of woods, and then a private graveyard. Looping back toward the grounds proper, she slows as she hears another approach. Turning, she pauses among the daisies. Ears perked forward aggressively and tail held stiffly high she contemplates Fenris. Her hackles rise in uncertainty, a spiky ridge of fur all down her back. She whuffs softly, one paw lifted for movement, either to flee or approach.

His eyes take in the luxury and comfort. "Thank you, Lyssa. Sleep well."
He watches her leave, then shuts the door. He stands a moment looking out the window. He rubs his hands over his face and scratches his head, pulls his earlobe, massages the back of his neck. He looks around the room and sighs, then pushes on the bed with one hand.
        "Hmmm...not too soft. Good."
He slips off his boots and sits on the bed, then lies down. He reaches down into a bag and pulls out a book and reading glasses. He settles them on his nose and opens the book. He reads...
"'King Uther at that time saw the Lady Ygraine and nothing would do but...'"
He sighs again and drops the book on the floor. Then he speaks softly...
"Arthur, some of them have it right, and some are wrong."
        He smiles, then.
"You should have been here tonight. You would have liked it. I think they did. Oh, he was a pretty one, Arthur. A bit like the one you and I saw near Tintagel."
He is quiet for a moment, then he slips his glasses off and carefully places them on the nightstand. He folds his hands on his chest and dreams that he is sleeping.

*leaning over to kiss Trufort gently, I stand and move to the foyer, looking up at the rooms above, I close my eyes and whisper to a little boy long ago who told me stories...* Oh little one...who is real - the dreamer or the dream? *and smiling I move outside onto the porch to gaze up into the dark heavens, reflecting on the night. A wolf's howl, a lone druid, my son...and memories...and...love. A shooting star makes me smile and I think on Rowan's question. What next, indeed?*

Comments: Christine sits in a library chair, gazing off into nothing. Ivory hands, ivory keys, the smooth sound of a piano rolling out into the night. Her face is frozen into a blank expression, except for some brightness about the eyes. Dragons may be beautiful, powerful, and majestic; but the heart is more powerful.

"Excuse me...I'm going for a run." She gets up, and walks swiftly to an exit, avoiding company. In the shelter of the roses, she pauses, and inhales deeply. Salt water tracks down her cheeks as she shuts her eyes and starts to shift. Her form expands to that of the 8 foot man-beast, then contracts. Standing among the blue roses is now a large black wolf, with a silvery crescent of fur decorating the inner margin of her left eye. Wolves have no tear ducts, but her fur is wet. She lifts her muzzle to the sky in a single lonely howl.

*staring at Christine, I nod and watch her go. I think I will need to write her guardian...she seems....lonely and homesick. Sighing I remember him and I shiver. He would have found the dragon more than amusing...*

Comments: I walk with my master up the stairs, realizing how tired I am with each step, yet the words, the power, and the experience of the night will burn in my mind forever.
"Here is your room, Master," I say quietly, opening the door to one of Rhea's lush apartments. Like a young apprentice, I pour him water for washing and drinking, set the fire to a comfortable level, and turn down the bed. I burn to ask him a thousand questions, but he needs to rest--we both do. Not QUITE as reckless as I was in my youth, I know the value of keeping sharp. "Master, if ye be needin' anything, my room's down the hall on the right. Just call," I smile warmly and bow, before heading to my rooms.
Tired, though still a bit too worked up to sleep, I throw the windows of my room open, kick off my boots, and lay down on my bed, letting the evening air, with its first kiss of fall, wash over me.
I turn my face to the moonlight, and close my eyes.
*Innocence...I have lost that long ago...and yet...and yet not. I still hope.* Past and present wash over me as sleep arrives, mingling with thoughts of the night, *What dreams the secret heart? ...I was most happy at home, with Branwen, and Thaddeus, before...but I am happy now. A part of me has wished to go back, but my place is no longer there, my home is...not my home. My time there is done, though I still have one more oath....Still, it is normal to long for the past--did not Rhea long for it tonight? But...my place is here now...Surely time will let me settle here, surely I can call this home, and feel the freedom of having a family again, rather than wondering when it will all end...regain recompense for lost time...."
Full of thought, the mind wanders, til Morpheus weaves his spell of sleep and dreams.

All too soon, in a rush of light and wind, he departs, and I am left in the daze of one who has wakened from a wonderous dream--and wonders if she really wakes.
The experience itself has been an exploration, and has touched me deeply, evidenced by the glistening on my cheeks.
"To think, you were a part of this world, my lady," I whisper, moved by what, who, she is, the infinity of tales that she has lived and breathed--the magic in her! I would ask ... no let me put it this way. *I hold forth my hands still tightly clasped about the pebbles* Each thing in the world has it's own power, soul, energy. You see here how *I focus again on the pebbles, a bit of my energy once again lighting a light with their energy flooding me, flooding the room. * How do you connect like this to the human soul?

*I make a small "O" with my mouth in wonder at both Lyssa's and Adara's questions. This answer though interests me especially given that I was just mortal and would have this insight. I grip Rowan's hand tightly in anticipation*

        "Here is my answer...
Give back to them in Bardic Song
        The virtue gone so very long;
        Torn by war and tempest-tossed
        Innocence....is what they've lost."

*I bow my head and close my eyes. I remember from the beginning of time....how right Shandrivan is.....how it all changed once Man's was lost...how the tides shifted and the world tilted. And Khnuman was as lost as my land. Shandrivan's wisdom is as great as his memory.*

Comments: "Your dreams are no less real, my lady," I reply, though I am compelled by her eyes, compelled to look within...*What do I dream?*
Then the words and the touch of the beast fill me with awe, and I feel small and hesitant, least my question seem foolish or wasteful of this opportunity.
But then, I remember the words of my master, the stories and lighthearted teasing of the night that lead to this special moment. *'Brave Little Duck'...Yes...that is who I am...and more. I am a bard, and I, too, have dreams!*

I raise my head to the dragon, respectfully, standing straighter, more sure, "Great One, There is so much I would ask! You have lived from the veils of myth, and seen the tapestry play out in a myriad of possibilities, Light and Dark, our lives are but as candle flames guttering in the wind to your own, if there were but time to see, to learn, and to really listen, I'd...," I pause, shake my head, caught up in all the possibilities, caught up in...a real dream of my heart.

"Lord Shandrivan," I pause, meet his eyes--*Oh, such eyes!*--"Great One, I would know, through all the ages, what is the one thing that humanity has forgotten--one thing that I can know, remember, and give back to those who dream, so that hearts may find their true path?" I bow, knowing that I am asking for a great gift, but unable to do no less.
For I am a High Bard of Elsinore.

*standing between Lytol and Lords, I hold my breath. It is a good question and one I would hear the dragon answer. I think that I know but....can I?*

*And, an answer may not be a fulfillment...but it may be a path to one, should they ask their heart's desire again,* I reflect.
"What of you, my lady?" I ask Rhea softly, though, from Vheyne's cruel proposal, I already think I know what she desires. "Surely...surely this creature of magic can delve the realns of possibility, if ye ask?" My secret desire? A man may have many secret desires... I would wish to see myself through the eyes of others. One may only truly know themselves through the eyes of others.

She unconsciously draws in on herself, wringing her hands in worry. I don't want to offend it either! Oh bloody hell! My turn.

She steps forward nervously. Her eyes focus on the dragon, watching for any slight movement. Hands clasped, and trying not to shake, she speaks. "Bright one, I must withdraw from your contest with regret." She swallows, her soft accented voice pausing for a second. "My heart is my own, and few have been trusted with it." Suddenly blushing, pushing my lips together hiding the makeup I forgot to remove, and then I blink, she can't hear it? Why can't she hear it herself?*
The dragon granted us a question and then to help him choose who should ask the question he asked "What dreams thy secret heart?" and now we answer.

A slow painful throb starts in her temples. Oh no...no, I'm not dropping them. Unobtrusively she inches over to Adara. "Did the dragon say anything?" she murmers, rubbing at her forehead." Words stir my lips and I slowly forge an answer,
"Great Shandrivan," I bow. "I humbly beg you, let me try thy riddle," I pause, close my eyes, and speak from what *my* heart knows:

"Within all hearts there burns a fire,
Light and Dark beat forth desire.
But what force begets the goal?
As we walk between the shadow and the soul....
        Some would say it destiny,
But in truth, we are bound by possibility.
We forge ourselves with what we give, and take--
Yhe heart's dreams arise from the choices that we make!
For, lacking or full, bound or free,
We create what we precieve ourselves to be!"

I open my eyes, and find my gaze upon my mistress, seeing a new truth in her, in each of them...and in myself.
Bowing, I step back, between her and master Emrys, silent now in my own contemplation, caring no longer if I ask the question...for I think I have found my own answer, of sorts.

*nodding to Lyssa* Well said, my dear. But what is your secret dream?

Who has the most secretive secret in their heart? we wonder, dancing near the dragon, flowing over his live scales. And then to Destin I go.* Tell him then. You introduced yourself!

*The tingling close, tells me that Thorn whispers* But what do I tell him? Truth? *I step forward once more and quietly clear my throat* um....Great cousin. *I bow* The dreams of my most secret heart are....also my shame. I dream of...*I hesitate and look around*...being...whole. Right now I am both the sun's fire in my heart and the moon's coldness in my veins. I burn with light and my touch is cold. I wish that I were one or the other. Either immortal in day or pure as the night. As I must live only for the night, it seems fitting to belong only to one and not the other.. *bowing again, I step back, reaching once more for Rowan with my hand and my eyes, knowing she understands if no one else does.*

"Greetings, Shandrivan. I, Emrys, on behalf of and aided by the power of your kin Phoenix and her gathering have sought you."
He pauses and glances sideways to Rhea.
"He has rather put us on the spot, hasn't he?"
A smile twitches around his lips.
"Rhea, you should choose the questioner. Or, if you do not wish to, perhaps.."
He gestures to the Grand Beast and bows again.
..."our honored visitor would choose for us."

I am cousin to you. *my voice is hushed* Mamma, perhaps we should let him choose among us? He does not know us, except a sense of you, so perhaps it would be less biased? *I stand tall as I behold my own past in the fire of this miracle!*

Sinuous as a river, almost filling the room, solid and gleaming and shining, he is here.
He moves his large head from one to another of these people with such looks on their faces.
His red wings flutter, the muscles of his long shanks ripple, his claws click as he settles on the floor. Green and blue glows the room. Baby lightning bolts flicker in the air. If a mountain could breathe, it would sound like his breathing. He speaks, but his mouth does not move. His voice, his thoughts have the sound of a mountain spring, the echoes of caves, the rumble of a volcano.
        "Phoenix-kin, greetings."
A long pause, with a breath that flutters curtains.
        "I speak in your understanding,
honoring ancient bond of guest and host.
        I stay but briefly.
        I will answer one question."

*smiling, I close my eyes, open my palms to reveal the cold fire which flickers off my fingers.* Kith and Kin. Welcome be. *I nod my head in honor* Your coming honors me and all those gathered here to welcome you. You were invited by Emrys, ancient and old. *And having made the introduction, I turn to him* My friend, how shall we choose what question and who shall ask? It is a gift and a responsibility. Such is this moment.
A creature from the age of legends looms before us, and I do not know whether to bow or kneel, laugh or cry, sing or be silent, moved as I am by the stirrings in my soul, and in those around me.
Here is the dream made manifest! Magnificent! And his voice is thunder rounded with the music of the spheres. Unable to speak--in more ways than one!--I manage to bow before the great dragon, offering it a small bard's welcome.

Comments: Silent throughout his appearance and bouts of storytelling, I only nod my head as Emrys tells me to stand by Lytol. Emrys's power and age are near palpable, yet no sense of superiority ever alights on his face...I feel a great respect towards the man, something I seldom feel towards anyone. I close my eyes, trying to imagine a starry night...an image from New York comes to mind, when Dante and I broke into the Empire State Building one night and sat on the roof, drinking wine and wyne while watching the clouds drift by. I remember Susan finding us, yelling at us for our pointless antics. We talked her into sitting down to drink with us, and we spent the rest of the night talking about how beautiful the sky was at night.

The memory brings a tear to my eye. It was a simple night, a night where no one died, where the hunter and the vampires sat and drank and talked of simple things, and everyone forgot that they were strange and powerful and dangerous, and we were nothing more than normal that night. When I close my eyes, I can still see that night imprinted in my mind's eye, the clear sky that was almost never visible from the ground, where stars sparkled as we looked to see where constellations laid in the sky.

Those times from my past are gone, banished in some strange mist. Susan is gone, and though I can accept her death, I still cannot forgive myself for it. Dante is no longer the same man I knew then, his carefree attitude more reserved, a practitioner of magic instead of a repressor. Even myself...no longer Albert, or 'Al', or 'Bert'...I'm just Michael now. I can only look back a feel shame for the pain my arrogance has caused. All the ties to my past have been erased or changed.

Only Lyssa remains. Lyssa, who has changed so much, yet so little, since that meeting one night, long ago...

        Only Lyssa remains unchanged.

I am shaken from my reverie by a sound that is both a refined whisper and a guttural roar all at once. My eyes open to see the dragon before us, and I feel my heart soar at the sight of such a wondrous creature of legend. Lytol chokes beside me, and a quick glance tells me that the magic of this moment almost moves the druid to tears. A tear does roll down my face as I silently thank the dragon, or Emrys, or God in heaven for sending such a sweet memory of the past to my mind.

All things in this world are possible, if one can but wish them true.

I wink back at Dra. Like her, I could do without this -- most days and nights. But this is extraordinary. This is magic's tidal wave we're carried along with, as the room changes and the creature enters. Majestic dragon, intelligence of ages, forces beyond my immortal ken, phantom wishes and solid belief making the road to lead him to us, or have we gone to the dragon's realm?*

*My eyes widen in shock and disbelief. I grip Lytol's hand and cry out* BY THE BENJ! I cannot believe it....*reacting involuntarily, the crimson mists swirl about me and wrap protectively around me and those close to me* Is he...is he real?

*Standing close to Drahomira and griping my staff tightly to me, I wait for my turn to hold the items, touching them to my cheek and passing my hand slowly over the earth before breathing on and passing my power to the soil. My eyes tightly shut now, I feel my power rising as I open myself and senses, pulling my strength to stronger levels as I listen to Emrys's words and let his power flow over me. Letting my power float on the air as I reach and gently brush the growing and living things nearby to strengthen the sense of them in the room.*

*My senses almost reel as I feel something greater then myself and I breath softly.*

        come...

The lines of reality blur and seem to shift, I can feel them as surely as I feel time seem to slow. Is it real? Does it have to be? The room feels hotter now.. and damp... as if a mighty breath is being exhaled. As Emyrs speaks, I can feel theair move from the beasts wings, the sounds it makes as it moves, can almost feel the creatures scales. The dragon's presense fills the room and I slowly open my eyes, willing it to be true.*

*The dragon speaks and I feel as if I should understand him, almost, but I don't and can only stare at this wonder. This creature of myth made real and my druid soul cries in joy.*

His voice is strong and resonant; he stands straight; his plain garments, somehow, have been replaced by a swirling blue cloak, satiny, with gold symbols that catch the light. Surely not so, and yet...He takes a deep breath and lifts up his hands. He begins to sing, a chant at first, then minor notes, then major, and all the while he is accompanied by pipes and Celtic drums, an unearthly yet beautiful sound from a distant land.
"O! ancient beast of hidden time!
        Treasure-guardian, star-sailor, flame-breather!
        Show us your light-dark essence!
Breathe on us your fire that does not burn!
O! Chariot of the wind! Sing us your lullaby of magic!"
Suddenly he crouches down and goes swiftly about the room, motioning with his hands in circles, his cloak billowing behind him, the sleeves rising up on his muscled arms. He whispers fiercely.
"He is this big, huge! Can you feel it? His tail swings back and forth, his claws click..Can you hear it?"
A fire lights up his piercing eyes. The room becomes darker, a distant sound, a gentle 'swoosh' grows closer. The curtains billow. Moonlight streams in and lights Emrys' face. An eerie glow suffuses all objects and creatures. 'Click, click, click...' a noise, a footstep, footsteps, four feet, faint, then louder, then rattling the furniture gently.
        "He approaches!"
        Emrys begins to sing again...

Fire...fire...remember fire...*squeezing Trufort's hand, I gasp. The room seems to swell and grow beyond itself. Is it real? Things begin to shift and change, the walls grow and fade away. Then the sound! The SOUND. That's real! A rumbling...a vibration...a heartbeat! And...and heat! Blue flickers swell around me and engulf Trufort, Lily and Destin, slowly moving to Rowan then Rosie and Adara....over to Dra and Lytol, Lords and Christine, round Sigi and Louis and back to me. I concentrate on the pebbles "turn them into a star". I fold my hands over them. And touch the inner power of them all. I make the power a warmth, and make the warmth grow. I make the warmth a beacon, a star, and I start to strengthen it. Drawling from the pebbles. I focus on this alone until the pebbles feel like light fire in my hand, only then do I open my eyes to watch the man. My attention still on the energy of the rocks.

And if he turns us down, perhaps he will send an RSVP. Perhaps Franklin and Simone can push back the furniture. He is large."
He smiles gently, then turns to each one.
"If each of you use your own powers--and friend Rhea, I am sure you know there is enough potential power in this room to move mountains--we shall have an evening to remember. Miss Christine, keep a 'space' open for him, a doorway? Rhea, the essence of fire that he loves, but also a calming thought. Rowan, silently chant the words of the charm of making. Not aloud! Destin, Trufort, Louis, Sigi, Lily, Drahomira concentrate on the five sense. You and Rhea will be the first to experience him. You will help him stay by letting these things from him roll around you."

Now, all, pass around the memories of this creature, put your hands on them, put your eyes to them, touch them to your cheek. Spirit Thorn, blow across them, but do not scatter the earth."
He does these things with the scales and feather and earth, then passes them to Rhea first.
"And as you do that, I will begin..."

*I take the scales, one filled with earth and set my shimmering feather on top, closing the other scale over it and press it to my cheek, closing my eyes. I feel the fire in my heart rise up to whisper into the past and my mind calls up the images of old wide wings, green and purple, gold and red, fire and brilliance. In my heart of hearts, in the immortal treasure that is life, I listen for his spirit. And with a smile I pass the scales on, turning back to look at Lyssa and Emrys with a slow smile.*

Comments: Christine blushes and somewhat stammers, "A spirit would need enough power to get through the Gauntlet and manifest here." Her eyes unconsciously track the movements of Thorn, looking a bit unfocused. "Of course, if reputation serves, a dragon should be able to do so, and a summoning should shunt some power that way, correct?" She looks up hesitantly at Master Emrys, unsure of the exact methods of his magic, then drops her gaze. "But Rhea, are you sure a dragon would WANT to be summoned? You said it has been a long time..." She trails off, unsure.

*considering her words* Well...I can't say how he might react...but if no harm is meant...he may be as fascinated as I am...and...I will be here to calm him. *eyes flame in their centers* But we should be prepared, I guess.

"But," turning serious, with a quizzical expression, "What will you need for this, Master Emrys? From what ye say, it sounds like ye are more callin' a spirit of a dragon--an, well, Christine here talks t' spirits--at least those of rose," I wink at the girl. "Or, will it be different? Light an' Dark, we have witches and mages aplenty, an'...Oh, I should get me a pen an' some paper!" I brighten, popping up to go to the desk and retrieve said objects.
"Just in case, Master Emrys, so I dinnae miss anythin' important," I grin at my teacher in my excitement.

Comments: He sits by Rhea a moment, takes her hands and speaks quietly.
"Dear lady, this is as much for an old man as it is for anyone else. You know that few know who I am, so I never have the opportunity for...this. If you would have the scales brought here, with a bit of earth under them, and a remembrance of yours with them...a jewel, a pen...something he would remember." He stands and touches Lyssa's nose playfully.
"Calling a dragon is no more than what you did when you ran along the bank of the River Grave, singing a boy out of drowning."
He relates the tale to the others.
"Little fellow fell in and the current was taking him. She ran along singing, making up the words of encouragement as she went. What a loud voice! He kept his head up and he grasped a rock, then another, and she jumped in and got him."
He chuckles. "I trust you have learned to swim since then?...And now...we shall arrange a visit from a colorful fellow."

Of course, old friend. *I go to the spiral stairs and to the library's upper level, traveling around the mezzanine until I come to an ancient shield. From the middle of this shield, I pull two inserts, dusty with time, but seem to shimmer as if polished. Returning down the stairs, I set these two marvels on the great library table and go to the glass case where I had set the case with my own feather in it. Removing the little case, I place this too on the table.* Some earth you say? *I pause but a moment and picking up a small plate from the tea cart, I go to the front porch where from the potted blue roses, I scoop several handfuls of the bower's rich soil. With a smile, I return, setting this by the other things and brush my hands together.* Well here you are Emrys. Scales, feather and soil. *curious*

Am I doing nothing more than showing off? Have I missed the accolades that I thought I shunned? Or I am only doing what thousands of people do each day...providing entertainment for friends, talking, relaxing.
He clasps his hands as if in prayer and makes a little bow as the others talk.
If I misuse my powers, I humbly ask pardon. But I see no harm in this...He is silent for a moment, his head bowed. Then he nods and stands straight, relaxed and smiling.
"I believe this young woman is a spirit." He takes Rowan's hand lightly. "Yet, you see her, she is here. There are many kinds of spirits. We can ask your cousin here. Yes, right here in the library. He will not be as he was when you last saw him, Rhea, and he will not knock over any furniture with his tail, but it will be him, perhaps more real than when he was then. It is hard to explain. You will see. But!"
He looks earnestly at the others. "I will need everyone's help."

Well I am not as I was then...I have human form now. *looking around* You know when I say cousin, I don't mean as humans are cousin. I mean cousin as in the way some creatures are related to one another due to evolution and similiar traits...but we knew one another and respected each other. We were from the same source. *could they really have continued? I nod as he speaks*

"Oh, to think of it: A dragon at the bower! A dragon, a werewolf, a druid, OH MY!" I flash a grin to Lytol and the others. What a group we are! What a grand thing to be a part of!

*clearing my throat* Well now Lyssa...if you remember from my legend, before I...evolved....the dragons and the phoenix flew the sky together. Related. We come from the same life fire. Comments: I open fully to the power of his words--here is a master bard! Images evoked wash over me and through me, and I am rapt to his voice and visage, and the world of the tale!
Secret dreams of the heart, he tantalizes and reveals, and I wonder what it would be to speak riddles and dreams with creatures of legend and ride the back of a night flying dragon, close enough to touch the stars!
At the same time, I feel the hearts stirred by his evocation, and as a bard and his student, I again marvel at my master's skill. *There is truly no one like him, and I can believe all the legends are true....*
The silence hangs in the air, and it seems we only tentatively dare to breath. I move as the spell lifts, rising to bow deeply and say solemnly, "It is just so, Master Emrys. You honor us," paying tribute to the truth of the tale, and the truth beyond the tale the teller blesses us with in manifesting the longing of the heart.
Smiling, I settle back, and pour him some wine that I think he will like, offering the cup to him, "'Tis my favorite, Master, and well I know how tale tellin' is thirsty work!" I flash him my impish grin, though my eyes still shine with awe. "OH, I do with I could meet and talk wi' one awhile!" I sigh, settling back with a wistful look on my face.

*I wait until he pauses, Master Emrys, and Lyssa too in her rapt awe which is so like a child's. And aren't we all children at heart? Finally, I look up at him and quietly I offer...* Emrys, I still have those dragon scales from my cousin - red and yellow and gold like Ft Knox. A dragon of the sun, all fire and blaze. Comments: "Dragons?!"
He gives a laugh and slaps his knee.
"You are trying to steer the talk away from yourself, I think. But all right, dragons it is."
        He stands...
"An old man gets stiff, you know..."
As he begins to speak, his voice is that of a scholarly professor. He holds up one arm as if in answer to a question.
"First, how many of you believe in dinosaurs? Ah...yes, of course. They did exist, might still, somewhere. Did they not find recently a fish once thought extinct?"
He nods his head. "You get my meaning. Well, then..."
His voice changes in timbre and drama and becomes the voice of a story-teller. His fine hands outline the shape of the creatures he describes.
"Once prowling the land was the treasure-dragon, who lived in caves and guarded gold and gems. His kind was iridescent blue and green, with red-gold eyes. Fierce he was, with breath of fire and slashing tail. Beware this one! Unless! You could answer his riddle; then the treasure was yours. If you could not, well...what do you think?"
His eyes glow and he crouches down a bit in the telling.
"Sky-dragons, black, whose wingspan hid the sun, a great demon creature blocking the light, terror-bringing, child-stealing."
        His voice grows softer, lilting.
"Dragon-friends, small, coy, playful. Happy to take you for a ride above the treetops. Sea-dragons, whipping up the waves to a froth, either snaring or helping the seafarers."
He looks each visitor in the eye, and his shape seems to waver, grow taller, glow...but of course, that is an illusion.
"The most powerful of all, the most wished-for and feared, the kindest and cruelest--the Dragon that moves across the nightsky, and he is made of dreams and smoke and secret words..."
He points his finger toward the ceiling where a crescent moon begins to form. (Or is it just a reflection of the lamps?)
"And whether the others exist or not, he lives and breathes past, present, and future!"
His words end, but the resonance of his voice rings in the room, and the silence is as loud as the sky.

*Her eyes flame and for a moment she is caught up in the magic of him as much as all the others. Her memory tickles her - the boy, the tales. As she studies him and listens, he strokes the inner fire which fires heart and mind, awakening the finest in each of those gathered here. As her fired eyes travel around the room with him, she does not fail to see the mesmerized looks of her family and friends. Yes, he has become great. He has...become. Her heart swells and her eyes follow the bend of light...and she remembers the charm of making which Rowan did...the one he made once to save a life and a kingdom...*

Druid history tells of a time when men shared the world with dragons and then they were gone. There were quite a few theories proposed but none were ever proven. It would be nice to know for certain that they are somewhere and perhaps we shall see their kind again.

*Shaking my head as if to clear it and then changing directions.*

As for Lyssa... well I have known for some time that her courage matched her heart. It definatly sounds as if she has always been that way. I do have one question though.

What were you doing up on that mountain?

*softly smiling at Lytol* Ah, sometimes you have to go up, to come down. And sometimes you have to go down to rise up. Mountains are good teachers, eh Emrys? Of obstacle, of strength and sometimes just of...will. *nodding her head*

His voice is soft, reminiscent. "There was another place, too, similar, a shining place."
His voice trails off and he stares into the distance. Then he seems to remember himself and he is in the present again.
"No, Elsinore is not perfect. There was a lad; I believe Ian was his name. Lyssa, do you remember Ian? The poor boy was a stutterer. He was shy, also, and not blessed with a handsome exterior. Some of the less charitable citizens--there were only a few mind you, but a few is enough--"
His eyes grow almost fierce, and a fiery vigor suffuses his old frame.
"Ian became a target for slurs, insults, taunts. It was sly, and no one noticed until it was almost too late. These wretches cornered Ian one night in a small woods outside the gates. They started pelting him with pebbles, then dirt clods, then rocks. They were ready to grab him and do who-knows-what when Lyssa came bounding towards them, thrashed them all, not without a few scars taken herself. She brought Ian back into town, and the rest of the year sat by him at dinner, walked with him, became his friend. No one dare say anything harsh to Ian then!"
He chuckles, pride evident in the sound.
"A fierce one defending the underdog she was!"

Comments: "Why?" I answer Rowan, turning reflective, "Well...tis what I am, and hard to explain other than that, really. I have a gift, I feel what others feel, and I can control that, for good or ill. With that comes responsibility, but...being a bard is more than talent alone," I glance to my master before speaking again.
"To know thyself...and to help where I am needed. I cannot do less! It's like...a callin' to my heart. I love stories, songs, they are in my blood...and there is a place and purpose for them, that too many forget in their rush to be successful in life...Light, there are so many reasons!"
"Fortunately, in Elsinore, these gifts were not unheard of, and were prized rather than shunned, else I may've well went mad with the cacophany around my heart. Aside from my mother, who is only a flicker of memory, mostly feeling, and my father, however, the friends I grew up with at the collegium were my closest family...and I just always felt as if I was meant to be there," I smile softly at my master and friend--father as much as my own father.
"And Elsinore...Elsinore is a shining dream in a peace we have worked hard for, and work hard to maintain. It is nae perfect, but everyone has a chance, on fair footing. No one god is held above another, nor is any blood above another, and in that, we do better than most. Thy path is thy own, and as long as it does no harm to another, it is accepted," I answer, pausing to let my master tell it as he knows it.

Lyssa, it sounds as if you had an exciting and interesting time then. Elsinore? What was it like? Why did you decide to become a Bard?

He puts down his tea and leans forward.
"I was a lad and had met this lady, and we were becoming friends..."
        He taps Rhea's arm.
"For some reason, I had decided to spend the night on this rather lofty cliff in a far north country. There were caves there, or perhaps it was a dare, some such thing."
        He waves his hand.
"I was sound asleep, wrapped in a blanket by my fire. A noise woke me, and I sat up to behold a beast, perhaps eight feet tall. He walked upright, like a man, but he looked like an ape. His eyes were red and fierce. I had heard of creatures such as this which came to be called the Yeti. Yetis are shy, but not this one. This thing came at me with claws out, leaping over the fire, black dripping tongue hanging out...well, I jumped up and I will tell a story on myself--I fainted. When I awoke, I was lying there with my head in this lady's lap. She was scolding me one minute, patting me the next. 'What are you doing up here by yourself?' she demanded, sternly. Then, 'Are you all right?' It seems she had disposed of the creature somehow and surely saved me from being its dinner."

*laughing* Well you know the Yeti are afraid of fire. *eyes flashing*

I look from one of them to another with a light of childish wonder in my gaze, much as when I first saw Finvarra. The great tales and dreams have their way wi' me, like that....
"And I agree wi' Lytol--I want to hear that tale, too!" I add hastily, least that one gets forgotten!

Even though the stranger easily dismisses the stories that Lyssa tells, I file them away just in case. The power of him still makes my hand tingle slightly as I sit quietly. A bit of envy crosses my mind. At least with the others, I was perhaps an equal and now this man... his strength is palatable. I shake my head and chastise myself internally before speaking.*

You know...I have heard a little about Lyssa's past, but not much, I don't even know where exactly she comes from. I will admit though, I am a bit more curious about our dear hostess's past and your own sir. I would cast my vote for that story first.

"Oh, the town with no virgins. Yes, we located the boy responsible and shipped him elsewhere, where he will be appreciated. Now, before I tell you of Lyssa's nickname, let me say first that soon her secret name became 'Brave Little Duck.' Anyway, to explain. There were some workmen cleaning out the privy. They would scoop up the mud and so on and heave it over the wall, shouting 'Duck! Duck!' as they worked. Some novice bards were walking down the road nearby, Lyssa among them, and...well..she didn't duck."
He leans over and touches her arm.

There's a strong force of personality there, like Sol's, or Rhea's, or Trufort's. Suddenly distracted, her gaze follows the cavorting plant spirit, and she smiles. **Hello, Thorn.** The smile widens at Lyssa's nickname. "You never know Lyssa, perhaps it was because you float in water," she suggests, jestingly. Idly, she recalls a certain pirate costume and an impressive dive.

"Well, Lyssa, anyone who sings is related to Taliesin. The love potion, why, that was a love letter that I delivered. The trees dancing was only a bit of meteorology. King Frederick? I had oysters delivered from the village...and the virgins...well, no virgins were eaten because...ahem...there were none. Now!"
He puts his hands on his knees and leans forward, a merry promise in his eyes.
"Would you like to know the Senior Bards' secret name for Lyssa?"
He pauses, knowing this is unknown to her as well.

"I am sweet--an' nae as innocent as I was, but still--" I narrow my eyes at Rhea and my master. "Are ye plotting, old man?" I mutter, then chuckle.
*Those two! Light, but it makes me happy! Rhea is like a girl again--I havenae seen her so happy in ages! Bless him for coming! And...she sent for him...that's a thing to know....*
"Oh aye, Rhea, he IS a scalliwag! Shall I tell some tales of YOU, dear Master?" I assume my most adoring eager-to-please expression, and then proceed to choose the most embellished tales rumoured of HIS youth, "Why, tis said, m'lord, that ye are related to Taliesin himself, an' that ye are responsible for the marriage of the King an' Queen via a love charm as was made for Tristan, an', like Orpheus, ye sang the trees to dance at their wedding, an' that ye are responsible for the alliance between Ruellan and Elsinore due to solvin' that wee bedroom problem of King Frederick...." I grin wickedly at my master.
"Oh, an' let's not forget how ye charmed the dragon of Failleswrith from eatin' all the virgins o' the local villages...," I grin further at him, then fall to giggles.
"Ah but, then, if we are to really have history, please, master Emrys, lady Rhea, will ye not tell us how ye two met? I confess...I *AM* most curious for this tale," I turn serious, sipping my wine after pouring more tea for my master. I am eager to hear this, as I am eager to hear all my master's tales--for no one can tell them such as he! Tis as if ye live them right in the moment!
Whispering to Adara, "Good luck! I have been tryin' to do that for YEARS! But perhaps, while he's here, we'll get more of a chance!" I whisper excitedly!

*laughing* Well that is up to Master Emrys...for I would not tell tales out of school, Missy. *turning to smile at him* And after all it takes two to make a good story. *and the memories rise up like flames*

"Forgive an old man for speaking of what some might consider unseemly things. But have any of you ever walked in a room when your parents were getting 'comfortable' with each other? And it is a realization! An epiphany! To think that there is more to your parents than you knew? Much more!"
He chuckles and rubs his finger over the bridge of his nose.
"I happen to know the pink dye was not your idea; you wanted purple, but your more conservative compatriots would not go along with it. And I do happen to know who was behind Lord Kendall getting stuck in the..uh...the outdoor water closet. The rock that jammed the door had your distinctive little footprint on it. Yes...I let Gwillem be blamed for he was a slacker. And then, of course, the banquet at the wedding of Lady Sarah and Lord Egbert."
He cocks an eyebrow at Lyssa, not quite hiding a smile. "Rhea, shall I stop? I can save more of these for later, and we can tell these good people how we met?"

*cocking my head* But Emrys, your stories are as much about how we met as anything could be! And now I must thank you for the gift you sent via Lyssa. Your timing was wonderous and I could not have needed it more. *leaning over to whisper* I kept my promise and have not told Lyssa anything. Rumour always had it that he was one of the most powerful bards Elsinore ever had...and...wait, did Rhea just say, "centuries?" Surely I misheard....*
My brow furrows a moment, but its gone in an instant. It's been a while since I have seen my master so...social! He usually shunned matters back home unless they were of grave threat to the kingdom, "Or Thad and Brennie an' me were in trouble," I murmur while sipping.
"My master says sit, so it is best to humour him," I flash a warm smile at Rhea and everyone. "Now, old man, ye know ye exaggerate everything! Believe nothing he tells you--especially if it involves Lord Aelfred's nightclothes. I repeat again that that incident with the pink dye was NOT my idea...nor did I have anything to do with breakin' in the king's newest stallion. That was Thad's idea. And ye can tell Brennie and Thaddeus that I havenae broken anything...yet!" I grin.

Comments: *She comes down the stairs with practiced grace, her arm around the Lord of Castle Eclipse, the excited smile on her face almost as dazzling as the flickering blue flames which light her eyes. Dressed simply but with some care in a gold and black chiffon dress with a strand of creamy pearls, her soft tred on the stairs is almost unnoticeable. The two ancients enter the library and she can no longer contain her happiness*

Emrys! Emrys? *eyeing the figure of the older man, so much changed from the young boy she once gave the feather to* Merciful Heavens! *embracing him warmly and pulling back to gaze deeply into his eyes* Well well my friend. It seems that time has been kind to you and I feel...*her voice softens huskily*...as if it has been only yesterday. So, you got my message then? It has been too many centuries since I tried that little trick you taught me. I was afraid it might not work. *delicate laugh like distant bells* Sit, sit! And forgive me for not being here to welcome you! And have you met everyone? Then allow me to present to you Lord Trufort of Castle Eclipse, and of late, here. *an uncommon flush highlights her face* My dear old friend. I am so very glad to see you. As you can see...*sweeping her arm*...I have quite the house! *with a deep smile* And now, I have you here to make an old bird's joy complete. *sitting, still lingering with his hand in mine*

*chuckling as we return to the house* Now behave yourself witch. *laughing finally, he ruffles his hair and follows into the library. His blood sighs with the sense of warmth and deep power* How do you do, sir? Welcome to the Bower. I am Destin Riviere, son to Rhea. A pleasure. *He turns and smiles at Lily* Princess! It's good to see you, sis! *Returning his gaze to the gentleman* Oh forgive me, this is Lily, my sister. Is Mother not down yet? *soft frown*

I pause leaning against the door in the dark room.* Lynn Baby? *softly whispering* You asleep babe? *I take that as a yes and move to the closet. I throw the boots in the back. Pull off the dress and stuff it in one of the boots, and take a white broom skirt, and matching white top sleeveless with green embroidery framing the top. Over it I pull on my cloak, and rush down the stairs to the library. Totally forgetting about my charcoal eyeshadow, and silver lips.

Comments: Emrys stands at the slight frisson of 'entry' he feels. He turns and smiles and takes Drahomira's hand.
"Good evening. My name is Emrys. I am an old, old friend of Rhea's and Lyssa's old teacher. But I am not so old that I cannot appreciate loveliness when I see it."
He bows slightly, then smiles, less courtly now and more...what? He squeezes her hand a little.
"I knew a fellow once with hair like yours. Feisty on the outside, and a rare niceness on the inside. He ended up rather happy, as I recall."
He laughs outright as Lyssa enters, a walking buffet. With startling swiftness, he helps her deposit the food around, then puts his palm on her head.
"Now sit. Ah..." He feels around on the top of her head.
"I see you still have that bump from when you and Bran hid in the thieves' tent to retrieve the King's gold. Such a lark for a couple headstrong adolescents. We worried for days."
He turns to the company. "Then they appeared back in town, dirty, bedraggled, but with the King's gold all safe in a sack."

*her eyes brighten at his smile and his friendliness and she laughs mightily at his little assurance* Red heads have both more temper and more fun! *she giggles and moves off, watching Lyssa's antics and showing off with a smirk. I set it all down on a table for all to get to, bow with a flourish, and say, "Rhea will be down in a moment, I am sure!" I smile, and turn to hug Rosie.
"Tis good to see you, lass! I am glad you could come!"
Turning back, I finally take a seat near my master. "Well, Master Emrys, I see no one's tried to eat ye before I returned, an' that ye have faded to the wind--EAT!" *He says I always forget, but he is WORSE!* I attempt to give the old man a stern look. "Or I shall play "Whiskey in the Jar" at double octave....for 8 hours...," I threaten with a grin.
Heart light, I settle back to enjoy the conversation once again, and see what new spectacles occur! *Hmm...wonder where Dra is? And Adara, and Christine?*

*from the shadows, a creeping crimson tendril emerges, slowly materializing into a glittering green eyed, red-haired woman. Stepping forward, feeling the sense of magic, wary and hesitant, she studies the older man as she steps forward as if on cue* Was someone looking for me? *turning to the man* How do you do? "And Sir Druid. Yes, I have been in the company of Druids a few times. How is your master, Alanon? Louis, lovely playing. Music does soothe those tortured talents that some of us have but have not wished for. Mr. Lords..."
I see, he thinks, a big red apple.
"New York, the bustling place, is it? I have not been there myself, but I have heard tales. Indeed."
He hears a shy tiptoe up the stairs and feels a power walking with it. Now who are these lovely creatures? He smooths the feathers of the owl with his finger.
"Rosie, greetings to you. When a feathered friend trusts one enough to be a perch, it is a good sign. Now where is the lady of the house? And Lyssa? She must be preparing a feast."
He chuckles, knowing she was always one for applying such comforts to her friends.

*standing in front of the mirror* So? Tru? How do I look? I am so nervous and excited! To think to see him after....well...it has been hundreds of years! It's been a long time, sort of, since I was created from fae magic and roses and the wish to be created. Then, I could run around innocent and naked, and borrow something of Dra's to wear, but now, arriving alone, being neither the countess, nor one of the mortal girls who stays here, should I just walk in? As I'm deciding, my little white owl, Solstice, flies over to me and lands on my shoulder.*

Didn't I tell you to stay home? Well, it's too late now.

*I chase after her into the library, where there is familiar company, and one not familiar, yet. . . I immediately feel I should know the elderly gentleman. Solstice has already decided he should be familiar, too, having landed on his knee. She blinks her big golden eyes at him.*

I'm sorry. Excuse her but she seems to like you. *My own eyes go a golden color to match those of the friskly little owl. I blush rose pink as I reach out to gather her to me.*

"Yes, m'lady mentioned you were old friends. Er...a test?" I peer at him a moment, but hold my tongue. (Such an act is sometimes a personal achievement for me!) When my master gets in a "testing" mood, I have learned it is often best no too pry too deeply--and try to be elsewhere if possible, though, I do not recall ever escaping before.
Still, there is always a first--and I miss his challenges!
I brighten, if ye wait a moment, Master Emrys, I shall fetch her--and something to ease your weary bones from Cooke!" I bow with a flourish.
Swift as an elf arrow, I cut to the kitchen, "Cooke! We have an important guest! Light knows how he did it--I didnae hear a horse! *I suddenly realize* But my master is here all the way from Elsinore! I am off to tell Rhea....Can I steal some scones, please?" I ask--ASK for a change--and then dart up the stairs to Rhea's door.
"Rhea! Lady! Mistress! HE'S here! HE'S here!" I am grinning, then calm down. "Er...Master Emrys has come to visit! Ye, ah...may want to hide the valuables and prepare for some riddles!" The grin returns and I head back downstairs, to beg, borrow--ok, and filch--a few goodies from Cooke to bring back to the library.

What currents would he feel, he wonders, if he should seek to do so? But now is not the time. He turns to Lyssa.

But I cannot walk inside your memories without...*here he fingers her neck*....and the more often I do take from you, the more you would crave it. That it is difficult enough given that you aren't actually alive...and that alone is what is startling. *he shakes his head* I can however visit your dreams...and should you sleep and dream, then on some plain I can see what you see, and have you see me. I don't know how it works with being actually IN your dreams. Unless it is to dream of me. Maybe given that you are part fae will allow me this. *Lyssa's harp seems to have its own will to sing, and the periphery of my senses tell me it's the ghost rosethorns. They want to dance too.

Then there's a visitor, a newcomer I couldn't ignore if I wanted to. He teases much more than the edges of my senses, this elder whom Lyssa greets with familiarity. She leads him to a chair while I wonder. But it won't be long. The man states he'd like to be introduced!*

I break into giggles at his shamming--which is frighteningly convincing for a moment! *How old is he, anyway?* The old thought returns, and then I bow, taking his gift with his lesson. "Yes, Master, and nae, I haven't forgotten!"
I turn, "My friends, allow me to introduce Master Bard Emrys, once High Bard of Elsinore, Elder of the High Council *When he wishes to be...*, and...my teacher and friend," I soften my tone only a little in its formality.
"Master Emrys, this is Louis Durmond, of Castle Eclipse, and Adara was around here somewheres, as was Rosie--ye wil like her, Master! She is an...interesting young lady!," I dart a glance around, wondering where Adara has gotten to.
"Both Louis and Adara have had the torment of bein' my students in violin. Adara is a quick learner, an' Louis exceeds me, though he cheats!" I wink at Louis and my master. "This is Mr. Michael Lords, of New York, a man of great humour--and great skill with a blade! The young lady over their is Simone, and is in the employ of Mistress Rhea--sharp as a pin, she is, Master, gifted in silence and seeing as we are in song! And this young man is Lytol, a Druid by trade, an' as honorable as any who have walked beneath the oaks," I incline my head to Lytol.
"There are many others about, Master, though some are out now! Queen Drahomira was around here, though I am nae sure where she is now," I flash a look of apology to Lytol.
"An' Mistress Rhea is, ah...busy with M'lord Trufort, also of Castle Eclipse! But I am sure she will want to know of your arrival!" I add, excitedly, "If Franklin hasnae already sent for her...I can bellow!" I flash him a grin, suddenly happy as a child on Solstice!

Comments: *And I melt into her beloved eyes.* Loved her? No. I love the Countess, and my daughter. I'm even thinking of Rosie like my own, and of course, Louis, so with Sigi. . . But you are the center of my heart. While you're the kind of being who always holds some mystery about herself, I know you far better than the vampire I had to kill. I. . . overestimated her potential, I suppose. But you, Rhea. . . *I kiss her with fierce tenderness.* I love you.

*matching his ferocity with equal passion* And I love you my Roman, my dark god. More than you will ever know. *the candles go out and I wrap my body to his, lost in his arms and his love, happy in this moment* I have missed this, darling. Our private times together are too few and always too short. We shall have to run away one night just us. *laughing softly* Maybe I shall kidnap you and ..mmm..keep you my prisoner. *seductive smile*

"I will let it go by that you were not at the door with a warning snarl on your face for an intruder. But..I see you are in the midst of entertainment and it can be excused."
He raises the cup to his lips and stops suddenly.
        "Dotage?!"
He pauses again, then purses his lips.
"Ah, me." His voice is soft and ragged and he suddenly looks 100 years old. "Yes, I am in my poor dotage. My bones ache, my brain is awash in my head, and my kidneys...ah, we shan't speak of them."
He watches her face for a moment, then a wry smile lights his face, the years drop away, and he is...oh, fifty-ish. He reaches in his pocket and pulls out a stone. He shows her one side of clay and the other of silver.
"There, that is for you. The clay is to remind you not to jump to conclusions; the silver is a thank you for caring.*a no-nonsense tone* Now, introduce me around or have you forgotten your manners? Grandfather, indeed."

Some things would be different, for you are a man and I am a woman, but the essence of childhood, nonetheless. It would take a long time to scroll through all the memories, but we have forever. What say you, sirrah? Would you like to share my childhood?

*chuckling tenderly, I tighten my embrace and listen with interest* Your childhood? You mean the things you played and the pranks you pulled? The way you learned to read and cook? The games you played? *slow smile* I could find these out in a rush, my love, if you...if we....*thinking...if you allowed me in again*...but of course, I would delight in knowing the little girl you were....and are, you wicked woman! *rolling her over and tickling her with my kisses* When did you learn to swim? But my laughter and my wondering are cut off by a voice that takes all the breath from my throat even as my heart swells with joy! (And my back straightens into an attentive posture due to years of conditioning to paying attention to his voice!) "MASTER EMRYS?!?"
I stand up, just about knocking the harp from my lap, but grasp it deftly, setting it in its case so as not to damage it--and give myself time to look away and gather my composure.
Barely able to surpress a grin--and certainly not the sparkling in my eyes--I saunter over, "Do ye have any doubts, when I have been taught by the best--in both instances--old man!?" I take up our fencing as if it has never ceased, now unable to hide my grin.
But there is nothing but respect and affection in my bearing when I take both his hands in mine and lead him to my chair, offering him a place to sit near the fire. "In place of Lady Rhea, let me welcome you--'til I can run for her!" I grab a cup and pour him tea--a gesture beyond automatic in our relationship.
Suddenly, my curiousity gets the better of me, "Master Emrys, what brings ye here?! Ye havenae taken to wanderin' in yer dottage, have ye, Grandfather?" I grin impudently, wink, then turn serious.
*Horn and Fang, the man NEVER leaves his rooms, methinks!* "Are ye well...is everything alright?" I am suddenly concerned.

Comments: Through the city, past the bayou, into the woods he walks, a bunch of dancing petals in the air leading the way. To the ordinary eye, he is just an old man, a traveler, perhaps even one of those without a home. He walks with an ease and dignity, as if he walks with a friend, yet he is alone. His pondering eyes light up when he sees a mansion over the crest of a hill.
        "Ah, and music."
Then, a real smile. He approaches the house, taps lightly at the door, and greets the gentleman.
"Franklin, is it not? Your lady expects me."
He hands him his cape and walking staff and slouchy hat, then holds a quieting finger up to his lips. He takes two silent steps to the library and pauses in the door, his eyes taking in the room, the people. His expression is inscrutable, benign, unreadable. When the music stops, he puts down his bag and says in a mock stern voice:
"Lyssa, have you been keeping up with your studies, young miss, or is all games and music and fun?"

*Franklin opens the door and is at once startled by the affable mannerism yet but at ease by the sense of familiarity the gentleman give me. He bows, taking the clothes passed to him and nods as the gentleman passes easily into the manse. It seems he knows his way, though Franklin is certain he has not been here before. Glancing quickly up the stairs, he closes the door and hanging the accoutraments, he moves to tell the Madam she has a guest...*

*After a moments' thought.* But I don't regret being a vampire. I know you have much heartbreak, but on the whole, especially now, I selfishly want you to be here and with me.

*rinsing his back, I pause in mid-air with the sponge* You...killed her? *slight gasp* You made and then killed her? Merciful heavens...how terrible for you my love!! *sighing* Sometimes it is hard to know how someone meets the dark when the embrace is given. I know we must choose carefully and not make others willfully or recklessly. But I've never known one to...*leaning against him* Did you love her? Comments: I switch to an Italian piece for Louis and Lily, something elegant that they can move to, showing off their vampiric grace. Firelight flickers, shadows dance an accompaniment, giving the warmth of the library a dark elegance which I add to with lyrical tones, hinting at longing, love, and the rites of courtship.
*Which, if my senses do not deceive me, is an appropriate thing for this eve!* My thoughts intrude, nearly making me blush.
Chuckling, I sit back as the song ends. "A moment, now, or me poor hands will fall off! I must sooth them with the cool touch of this lovely wine glass!" I grin, finishing off the last glass in the bottle, and opening my second for the evening. "Warmth within, and warmth without!" I grin at Lytol, and chuckle, then add, "But you need another partner, lad. Where has your princess gone to?" I arch an eyebrow, hoping all is well with them.

You are the lucky man to be the recipient of them. *low chuckle* I think about people quite often. Why we are the way we are. You and I are alike, yet different. And animals. Why, for example, does a cat suddenly wake up, jump down from a chair only to curl up two feet away? Why do we remember seemingly meaningless moments from the past? Hmmm? "Boy, don't touch those," says the old man without turning.
Gregory grins, then starts to sweep.
"Gregory, when did I last take a vacation?"
The boy stops, puts his hand to his chin.
"Well, sir, there was that time you was..were gone for a day. Fishin', you said."
Ah, the old one thinks. Yes, fishing for six months with Avalach, in Summerlands.
        "And before that?"
Gregory continues sweeping. "None in my memory, sir."
The man nods, then scoops the petals into his hand and puts them in the pocket of his tunic. He strides to the door with purpose.
"Sir?" says the boy, a question in his eyes. "Remember, the Bardic College meeting?"
"Oh, yes. Well, they can get along without me. They will spend the whole time deciding on colors for the new cowls, anyway. I'm off to talk to Thaddeus and Branwen. Pack me a bag, Gregory. I'm going on a brief...let's call it a sabbatical."

Comments: I clap at Louis's solo, ever enchanted by the vampire's music, and then I see Lytol grab Simone and call out for a request.
"As you will, my lord!" I bow with a flourish, and set bow to fiddle, ripping of a a merry reel. Happy and carefree, my face is pure joy at being able share music with my friends, and I catch their happiness up and weave it into my song!
"Come on, loves! Let's see if we can shake the boards!" I grin, picking up the pace of the song, beckoning everyone to dance!

Comments: *half drowsing, yet unable to keep still* Destin...I am wondering. Should we...will we...*tongue-tied* You will find I am a person of great curiosity. I like to know things...I...What happened these last evenings was of great importance to me. It was all so moving. Is there anything we need to talk about? I mean..and also I feel...*touching his face, blushing, unable to put thoughts into words*

*Destin cradles her close to him, his eyes bright blue as he gazes at this woman who gave him so much....the very life that now helps him be what he must be. He smiles, reaching the Gatehouse, and quickly opens the door with his mind, entering and setting his beloved on the sofa. The door closes on its own as he kneels by the sofa, kissing her hands* My love..I have no words for what you did, Rowan. The sacrifice you made....the risk you took to bring me back...*caressing her face* And now, you will find that the closeness we share is only intensified, for my thoughts can reach out and find you wherever you are. And I will always sense you. *running his thumb over her lips, a small bit of fang showing in his tender smile* The feeling you had...it was exquisite was it not? It is the seduction of the vampire, the sweetness inside the darkness. You know what it is now. *he tilts his head and whispers, leaning in to kiss her lips* No regrets I hope?.

Comments: *The mood surrounding the Female seems to change slightly and Fenris rolls over onto his stomach, giving a wolfish grin and wagging his tail slightly. His eyes track the stick as he turns to watch it's progress into the bushes and then he turns back with a large yawn.*

*The mood changes once more, a touch of excitement... of the hunt wavers in the air.*

*Standing up he yaps once and then jumps to the side before turning and running off into the shadows and to the west following his nose. His stomach growls and a sense of hunger teases his mind as he moves off, searching.

*A soft hiss and a wry smile meets the wolf's yawn.* Well, I don't fetch for no man either. *Dra shrugs and moves to the side as the wolf playfully yaps, her hairs still prickling at the large beasts movements. But at the playful stance, she stills and once more smiles in a sudden understanding as Fenris bounds off into the shadows.* Go get 'em honey....that's where I'm off to...a little hunt and I'll feel right as...*snickering*...a wolf....*and mists form where a woman once stood, crimson and deadly, also moving off into the thick shadows and her own hunt.*

Comments: In a room lined with books, scrolls, maps, globes, and other objects of an arcane nature sits a man with quill pen poised over a parchment. He dips into the inkwell, writes, stops, tilts his head to one side. His long grey beard proclaims him aged, yet in his eyes burns the light of thought, youth, and vigor. He pulls a russet cape around him, and curls and uncurls the fingers of his left hand.
        "Arthritis?" he whispers.
He looks up at the ceiling, around at the dying fire, then writes some more. The door at the far side of the room opens and a tousled head pops in.
"Sir, you wanted a reminder. Bardic College meeting in an hour."
The old man looks at the youngster absently.
"Oh, yes, Gregory. Thank you. Would you boost the fire a bit?"
But the lad is gone in a wink, so the man sighs, looks at the fire and makes a motion with his hand. The fire flares up, subtly warming the ancient, drafty room.
"Drafty." He glances to the open window. "No wonder it is drafty."
He walks to the window, his movements smooth and fluent, despite the appearance of age. He looks far down into the courtyard, deserted at this dinner hour, then reaches out to pull in the casement. As he does, a feather-soft petal, a rose petal alights on his palm. Then another, and another. He looks closely at them, then smiles. His thoughts go back, many ages, and his thoughts go forward, as his are apt to do.
        "Well. You remember old Emrys."
He carefully carries the petals back to his writing table and gently places them there. He holds up his forefinger and smiles fondly, and the petals dance and move and form the letter 'R.'

Comments: AHA! And here is my partner. *Grinning and walking over to bow at the waist to Simone. Standing up I offer her my hand and with a lighthearted voice ask.* Might I have the honor of this dance fair damsel? That is if Lyssa will play something suitable? I promise I wont step on your toes.

*Simone's eyes go wide and she blushes, looking carefully around to see if the Mistress is around. Not seeing her, she giggles and nods, taking Lytol's hand and wonders if Drahomira will come visit her later. Oh but to dance! Her skirt goes wide as she curtsies.*

So what shall we do now? More music? I swear though, if we do, I want to get a dance in this time.

*Grinning, I get up and pour myself a glass of wine and take a drink as I wonder where Drahomira could be.*

Simone comes to the doorway as if on cue and waits to see if anyone needs anything, examining the food and drink carts and bouncing a little to the music*

*Now, what is that lady doing? I go upstairs to find her.* Beloved, what are you up to?

*turning at the sound of his arrival and smiling at his voice, I come off the balcony with my feather and empty stem* Well...*sheepish look*...I was so taken with everyone's magic that it got me thinking about an old friend...Lyssa's old mentor ...and I wondered how the ancient boy was that I once knew....*whispering* Merlin. Oh but that isn't what I name I knew him by. *laughing and returning the scarlet feather to it's little box and coming into his arms* So, I'm not sure my wish making is any good anymore. Comments: *Fenris looks up at the Female her words seem strained to his ears and he whines softly in sympathy towards her.*

*Hoping to help her mood, he stands and streatches a bit before jumping nimbly to the ground and falling to his side and then rolling onto his back. He looks up at her, upside down now in his vision and then lets his tongue fall out of his mouth as he bares his stomach and squirms a bit on the ground.*

*It had helped before when he had felt similar feelings from his friend, perhaps it will work now...*

*the whine causes her to instantly go silent and Dra's eyes widen when the wolf stands on the stone. But when it jumps, she leaps back, fearing that he meant to attack. But when it falls to the ground and rolls over she stares, in stunned amazement.* What are you doing? Stop that. You are not cute. *She watches him rubbing his back on the ground and then suddenly, hesitantly, she chuckles* I wish I could do that too sometimes....*but she does not advance and the mists still twirl about her slowly* I don't play with wolves, you know. You beasts frighten me. *She picks up a stick and tosses it* Go on...get it and find something to amuse yourself. *sniffing* Go kill a rabbit... or something.. *green eyes suddenly glitter and she looks up at the sky* Sounds like a good idea...rabbit hunting. *fangs gleam*

*The stones of the graveyard appear in the faint light as Fenris moves across the grounds and then he jumps atop a fallen stone. Laying there, he watches, his body low and unmoving.*

*whirling around at the graveyard, Dra hisses* What do you want?? Why are you following me? You look like...the Hound of the Baskervilles! Don't you know I hate wolves? *growling at Fenris* What's the matter with you? Since when are you interested in me? You make me nervous...go away...*and Dra moves to the farthest side away from the wolf, soft crimson tendrils lifting from her as if she might dissolve at any moment, tears straining her cheeks. She whispers to the wolf* Are you talking to your friend? Well....don't! *angrily she wipes her face* Mortals! *she snorts* Why does Rhea bother?

But someday! Perhaps when I find the answers! *dancing over to the wall and straightening the painting*

*watching the girls with interest, quickly I kiss Trufort and fly off to my room with an idea. Opening an old ivory box in my private closet, I pull out the ancient feather of my lost self. It shimmers unlike anything that exists today, glowing with an aura. I take it and move to my balcony and with a rose in one hand and the feather in the other, I close my eyes and hope I remember how to do this.*

Emrys...young man that I knew...old friend that you are...ancient master and historian...grant me a wish? Wind...tickle his thoughts with my feather and touch his heart with these petals soft. *and with a soft breath, I blow the rose petals off the stem and into the night wind. Comments: I laugh, finding Rowan's floating tricks delightful! The music has washed through me, leaving joy in its wake. "Rowan, that's a great idea! Though, it will have to be at night," I grin at Louis and Destin. "Street performing is a wonderful, rewarding thing! Oh, and a wee bit lucrative when yer' on the road and need a night's shelter! *wink* Oh, but the people, the faces, gettin' to watch the crowds--tis something I really enjoy! Hehe, you could help some of my old standards, too, Ro!" I grin, getting an idea.
Seemingly out of nowhere, colored glass spheres appear in my hands, flashing up, weaving thier own circle of five colors. My eyes follow them carefully as I grin, speaking, "Now, just imagine, if I could pull my hands away, Ro, and these'd keep going?! You lift 'em, Ghostie lady, and we'd make a bundle off this trick!" I laugh.

Now there is a magic act! *laughing but watching the painting a bit wide-eyed*

She moves off and then Fenris stands and steps out into the moonlight, following at a distance as she moves off. His head and tail kept low, he follows her, moving as she does and stoping to sit quietly and watch her whenever she looks back.*

*Something is wrong and Fenris is curious as to what, but also his Friend would worry for her. He does not understand how he knows this, nor does he care, he just knows.*

*wandering off, the back of her neck tingles and Dra is very aware that the wolf is following her. Fear grips her heart and she turns around and faces the beast.* Stop this! Go back.
